PSALM 37
Do Not Fret—Trust the King
Devotional Reflection
Psalm 37 speaks to the anxiety we feel when evil appears to prosper. The wicked seem secure, while those who pursue faithfulness may suffer. Yet David reminds us that appearances are temporary: evil will wither like grass, but those who trust the Lord will inherit His promised future.
“Delight yourself in the Lord” does not mean God will grant every private ambition. It means that as God becomes our deepest treasure, He reshapes the desires of our hearts. We can release our need to control outcomes because our lives are held by a faithful King.
Jesus is the truly righteous One who suffered while His enemies appeared to triumph. Yet through His resurrection, He inherited the kingdom. In Christ, our future is secure. We do not need to envy, retaliate, or fret. We can wait, serve, and trust.
One Truth to Behold
The apparent success of evil is temporary, but the inheritance God gives His people is eternal.
One Truth to Become
Become a person whose quiet trust, patient obedience, and generous spirit reveal confidence in God’s justice.
One Question to Meditate On
What fear or injustice am I trying to control instead of entrusting it to the Lord?
Closing Prayer
Faithful Father, calm my anxious heart. Keep me from envy and anger, and teach me to delight in You. Help me trust Your timing, practice goodness, and rest in the secure inheritance I have through Jesus. Amen.
