PSALM 119
The Word That Leads Us Home
 
Devotional Reflection
Psalm 119 is not merely a celebration of rules; it is the testimony of a heart that has discovered God’s Word as life, light, and refuge. The psalmist faces temptation, suffering, confusion, and opposition, yet repeatedly returns to Scripture: “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

We often approach the Bible either as a burden to avoid or a tool for proving ourselves. But God’s Word is first a revelation of the God who seeks, saves, and sustains His people. We do not obey to make God love us; we obey because His grace has already drawn us near.

Jesus is the Word made flesh and the only One who perfectly delighted in and fulfilled God’s law. At the cross, He bore the curse our disobedience deserved. Through Him, Scripture becomes not a ladder by which we climb to God, but a light showing us the Savior who came down to us.

One Truth to Behold
God’s Word reveals His faithful character and leads us to Jesus, our perfect Savior.

One Truth to Become
Become a person whose thoughts, desires, and decisions are increasingly shaped by Scripture.

One Question to Meditate On
Am I approaching God’s Word merely for information, or to know, trust, and obey the God who speaks?

Closing Prayer
Lord, open my eyes to behold wonderful things in Your Word. Shape my heart by Your truth, direct my steps, and deepen my love for Jesus. Amen.
