November 2: Behold What Kind of Love

1 John 3:1-3

John does not merely say that God tolerates us or allows us near. He declares that believers are called “children of God” — and that is what we truly are.

Adoption is one of the gospel’s greatest gifts. God does not forgive us while keeping us at a distance. Through Jesus, He brings us into His family and gives us the security, access, and inheritance of beloved children.

The world may not recognize our identity because it did not recognize Christ. Our value therefore cannot rest upon public approval, visible success, or changing circumstances. We are defined by the Father’s love.

We do not yet see everything we will become, but when Christ appears, we will be like Him. This future hope produces present holiness. We pursue purity not to become God’s children, but because in Christ we already are.

ONE TRUTH TO BEHOLD
Through Christ, the Father has lavished upon us the love and status of His own children.

ONE TRUTH TO BECOME
Become a person whose security in God’s love produces purity, hope, and freedom from human approval.

ONE QUESTION TO MEDITATE ON
How would my fears and choices change if I truly rested in my identity as God’s beloved child?

CLOSING PRAYER
Father, help me behold the greatness of Your adopting love. Root my identity in Christ and purify my life as I await His return. Amen.
